A C-Bus PC Interface (5500PC) only supports RS-232 connections to a computers.
Due to compatibility problems with USB adaptors in general, CIS recommends USB>RS232 adaptors using the FTDI chipset and driver.
An adaptor sold by Dontronics has worked reliably throughout the CIS 3 day C-Bus training courses. It connects to your computer via a USB port and provides a 9 Pin serial connection. You will also need to use the serial lead supplied with your PC-Interface. Dontronics do not have a shopfront, all sales are transacted via their website.

Previously CIS listed a Quatech PCMCIA > RS232 card adaptor. This is no longer recommend due to incompatibility issues between its serial driver and the Java Runtime Environment software that is now used by C-Bus Toolkit. Any of our CIS "Toolkit" compatible programs may experience the incompatibility problem.
Older Version 2 C-Bus software will still function with the Quatech PCMCIA card.
Please note as listed in the chart below the 5034NIRT ( IR emitter wallplate) is not compatible with USB adaptor leads and does require a serial comport on your computer.
